Overall, based on information provided by written articles and interviews performed, it can be concluded that gender inequality is not a strong or apparent issue for many athletes in America. Gender inequality is a general issue throughout America, but is not an applicable issue specifically for athletes. Yes, gender inequality is present within some athletic organizations and teams, but gender inequality is not an issue for athletics as a whole. Imperialistic ideas have influenced many Americans to believe that gender inequality is present and degrading in many respectable and morally correct organizations. Because of the idea that gender equality should be fought for in all environments and situations, many individuals believe that it is something that is not present and must be argued for everywhere, including sports. Yes, it is arguable that gender inequality is present in athletics, but after researching and understand the reasons behind this gap in circumstances, it is simple to understand the reason behind it. Men are put at a much larger advantage and held at a much higher respect compared to women, because of their contributions and leadership in athletics. Males are the primary participants in the two leading profitable sports for America, basketball and football, because of the success and entertainment industry these sports provide and create. Without these sports, athletics as a whole would take a huge loss. Women are given the opportunity to play and succeed at this level, but fall short in comparison. All interviews and statistics support and agree with the fact that women are given less opportunity than men, because few women are willing to put in the work it takes to become an athlete that receives the same. Athletes, such as Susanne Boyden, have been given equal respect, treatment, and opportunities compared to their male counterparts, because of the work and effort put in. Not all female athletes are capable of working for or achieving these higher levels of profit, acknowledgement, respect, endorsements, etc. Because of this, a gap is created when comparing female and male athletes, providing the reasoning for many individuals argument that gender inequality is present in athletics. This argument, alongside the influence of imperialism, has promoted the "issue" of gender inequality in sports as a very concerning problem for many Americans. Gender inequality in general has become one of the most controversial topics nationwide, because of influence and pressure, from leaders and advocate groups, encouraging women, nationwide and internationally, to fight for equal rights and opportunities in every circumstance. This argument has unnecessarily been brought to athletics, but will continue to be fought for and over until women are given "equal" opportunities in comparison to men, even without earning them.
